Nancy Davis, Corn Husk Dolls
Nancy has been making corn husk dolls since 2014 and creates traditional dolls with a modern touch. She has worked with children at the Transylvania Heritage Museum and at the Cashiers Historical Society. She will demonstrate and make simple corn husk dolls with children and some of her dolls will be available for sale. |
Becky Garrision, Spinner
Becky is a Fiber Arts Expert and past Transylvania Handcrafter's Guild President. She spins and dyes yarns and creates a variety of items. She has done several classes on dying techniques and is always willing to answer questions. She will demonstrate spinning and offer her fiber creations for sale. |
Heather Seaman, Basket Maker
Heather Seaman has been coiling baskets out of longleaf pine needles for around 18 years. Graduating in 1996 from UNC Asheville with a BA in art, her love of nature eventually led to a passion for working with natural materials. Pine cones, black walnuts, shell slices and more are used in the decorative and functional pieces that she creates. She is currently a member of the Transylvania County Handcrafter's Guild in Brevard, the Dogwood Crafters in Dillsboro and the Heritage Weavers & Fiber Artists that operate out of the Boarding House at Historic Johnson Farm in Henderson County. Her work can be found at various craft shows around Western North Carolina in addition to the Dogwood Crafter's shop in Dillsboro. will be demonstrating this skill and offering some of her creations for sale. |
Donna Hoover, Weaver
Donna bought her first table to loom about 15 years ago. She taught herself to weave using the Deborah Chandler book, Learning to Weave. Since that time she has woven many household linens items and also a garment. She currently volunteers at the Eagle's Nest Foundation The Outdoor Academy in Pisgah Forest, NC and also helps with the Transylvania Heritage Museum Educational Programming at the Allison Deaver House. |
